Pondering the Humanity of Easter Egg Hunting

Welcome to the 2nd annual Belfield trek to the O'Brien Park Easter Egg Hunt.

You may recall that last year's hunt was very cold and we lost Brendan.  Temporarily.  Okay, he was never really lost.  Grandma Van was watching him the whole time but a certain pregnant Mama (who shall remain nameless) lost him in a sea of pastel-clad children and freaked.  A little.

Now, free of raging hormones, it seemed like a safe bet to head to the Hunt again.
Brendan, pre-hunt

Am I the only one with a child who has a "picture smile"?  What is up with these?  Oh well.

Brendan was soon off for the hunt while I followed closely ~ shouting encouraging words of advice like "keep going!" and "pick them up!" to the back of his head while surrounded by approximately 13 million other suburban parents and guardians ~ the entire time.

Despite all of that, it appears that Brendan enjoyed the hunt, his balloon sword, the Tootsie Rolls and the maximum two prizes he obtained from his bounty.  Emery, meanwhile, was underwhelmed.
At least neither one of them was screaming and kicking off their shoes like the kid standing next to me for 15 minutes before they released the hounds to collect those eggs...  Oh, and we weren't the family walking to the park with the adorably expectant child holding the Easter basket full of nothing but child-like anticipation ~ approximately 30 minutes after the hunt was complete.
